Dr Marino Gammazza will present the protection of Lactobacillus fermentum in alcoholic liver disease, during the Targeting Liver Diseases World Congress 2015
A mouse model revealing the protection of alcoholic liver disease by Lactobacillus fermentum will be the focus of Dr Marino Gammazza, during the Targeting Liver Diseases World Congress 2015, held in Malta between the 25-26th June 2015.
"Alcoholism is one of the most devastating diseases with high incidence, but its pathology and treatment are still plagued with gaps mostly due to the inherent limitations of research with patients. A mouse model was developed for studying liver histopathology, Hsp-chaperones involvement, and response to treatment. Thus, typical ethanol-induced liver pathology occurred and the effect of probiotics could be reliably monitored."
